The w995 supposedly has the stripped-down camera from the C902, instead of "It's the stripped-down version of the C902".
This comes from many people at various online SE forums that analyze the phone and did some background research!

SE does not want the w995 to compete with the C series since the phone is a Walkman (W) phone so it's emphasis is on music not photography!
No xenon flash and the picture quality is decent but Mainly for day or up-close shots NOT night or long-distance shots!
It's OK for spur-of-the-moment shots but, as many people have said on many online forums...
If you want good pictures, buy a (digital) camera!
This is primarily a phone with a media player as its primary function with a camera as its secondary function.
